Welcome to Upper East Side

Upper East Side sits on the east coast of South Florida, about 20 minutes north of downtown Miami and six miles from the Miami International Airport. This up-and-coming neighborhood was annexed to the City of Miami in 1924 becoming one of Miami’s first suburbs. The Biscayne corridor of Upper East Side is known to many as the MiMo (Miami Modern) District, and is rich with architecture, history and art.

​​​​​​​This charming suburb features wide boulevards, mature canopy trees, tropical vegetation, gated communities, approximately 100 acres of public parks, and sweeping water views of Biscayne Bay. The architectural landscape features an impressive range of Miami Modern buildings and historic homes that date back to the early 20th century. Styles include Art Deco, Art Moderne, Mediterranean Revival, and Streamline Moderne.

​​​​​​​Belle Meade, Bay Point and Morningside are three distinct residential neighborhoods in the Upper East Side. Belle Meade is a gated community consisting of approximately 390 single family homes, including 90 waterfront estates, ranging in price from $700,000 to more than $10 million. Bay Point is a private residential community consisting of approximately 250 single family homes that were built in the 1940s and 50s. Morningside is a historic area with homes dating back to the 1920s and eclectic architectural styles feature Mediterranean revival, Art Deco, and vernacular style houses.

Upper East Side is a lively community with many restaurants from fine dining and oceanfront locales to dive bars and lounges. Ferraro’s Kitchen is a fine dining eatery serving authentic Italian cuisine with quality ingredients. Mandolin Aegean Bistro is a Greek restaurant located in a 1930s house with quaint décor and patio seating. First established as a wildly popular food truck featuring artisanal grilled cheese sandwiches, Ms. Cheezious has become a neighborhood staple. Via Verdi is a rustic, intimate space with a terrace and martini bar serving authentic Italian cuisine and other regional dishes.

Upper East Side is surrounded by diverse activities and popular attractions. Morningside Park is a beautiful oceanfront space with a boat ramp, sports courts and fields, open lawns, workout equipment, a playground, a recreation center, and is the perfect place to go kayaking, paddleboarding, or sailing. Miami Ironside is a multi-purpose outdoor mall containing shops, restaurants, a boxing and fitness center, art studios and galleries.

Legion Park is an open air, waterfront park equipped with numerous indoor and outdoor facilities. The park hosts after-school programs and camps. Play a game of basketball, use the computer, or take a dance class. There’s also a playground, tennis courts, picnic area, soccer field, biking and walking paths, plus various water sports and boats to rent. Join the Urban Oasis Project at their weekly farmer’s market that strives to make healthy food available to everyone.

Schools

Miami Dade Public Schools serves the Upper East Side. The district is the fourth-largest in the nation, serving more than 334,000 K-12 and adult learners in the county. The traditional and charter schools are A-rated and provide comprehensive academic programs and extracurricular activities. There are also many prestigious and accredited private institutions in the community.
